News You Can Use: ROOT’s July Newsletter

How is it July already?!  We’re not complaining – the farmers markets are filling up with summer produce, we’re busy with picnics and BBQs with friends, and we only JUST enjoyed the longest day of the year. One value we all share is “We’re serious. We’re fun. And we’re serious about having fun,” and summer (and all the good food in season!) is all about that! Read on for food industry news you can use and foodie events you can’t miss.

Food for Thought

For restaurants and chefs, getting out of the kitchen and attending national food events can be a fantastic opportunity to meet people, learn about trends, and gain and maintain a competitive edge in the culinary industry. Last month’s blog on Hot Culinary Events shares our top 5 recommendations for the best national food and wine events to consider attending!

Xmas in July

Believe it or not, it’s about time to send out your Holiday Gift Guide pitches! If you’re a CPG company or you sell something “giftable,” you’ll want to send out your holiday gift guide pitches in the next couple of weeks, so now is the time to hire that PR agency to help! 😀 Watch our social channels (@rootmktgpr) to read our mid-month blog on Holiday Gift Guide Pitching.

ROOT Team News

HUGE news for ROOT! We couldn’t be happier to introduce you to our TWO newest ROOT teammates!

Senior PR Account Manager Anna Wilhelmsen  is a seasoned communications professional with over a decade of expertise in food, beauty, and lifestyle PR.

Anna is passionate about mission-driven storytelling – and food (see why we hired her?) and has represented renowned figures in the restaurant industry such as Wolfgang Puck, Curtis Stone, and Jose Andres.

Her in-house experience at leading consumer brands like The Bouqs Co and Beautycounter has honed her skills in navigating the complexities of high-growth environments.

Outside of work, Anna can be found hiking, cooking, throwing the ball for her dog Wallace, and on an endless quest for the perfect chocolate chip cookie.

Becky Witkowski is our Marketing & Admin Specialist, and her 15 years of marketing experience includes startups, social media, and event-focused agencies of all sizes.

Becky gets the big picture strategy side of things, and also fine detail work such as after-campaign analysis. Her go-with-the-flow attitude and problem-solving skills make her a perfect fit as ROOT’s resident “figure-it-outer.” When she’s not writing social content or brainstorming campaigns, she does a myriad of duties including our newsletter, website fixes, client research, and organizational tasks.

In what spare time we allow her 🙃 , Becky can be found drinking copious amounts of coffee while trying to wrangle her two sons (dog and human).

Welcome on board Anna and Becky! Can’t wait to see what good we can do together.

We also just celebrated Emily’s FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY with ROOT!  We couldn’t be more grateful to be working with such a talented, smart, dedicated, hard-working, and SWEET woman. THANK YOU EMILY for all that you do! We love and appreciate you so much. 🎉🎉

Colorado Good Food Events & Happenings

Spade & Spoon, a meal kit service rooted in Denver, CO, is offering a Summer BBQ Box during July. Each box supports Colorado farmers and producers, saves you a trip to the grocery store, and there’s no subscription required.

Place your order anytime over the next week (now through July 4) to receive that first box on July 10. (Hurry! This is July only – the last Summer BBQ box will be delivered July 31.)

There are so many “Can’t Miss” food-related events this month, but if you can only go to one, this is it! We’re proud to sponsor “Reels for Meals” an event to raise funds for Flatirons Food Film Festival and Meals on Wheels Boulder.

If you’re in Colorado, join us in supporting these nonprofit organizations on July 18 with delectable bites, live music, and a special screening of “The Taste of Things.” Tickets are available for both the Soiree and the film combined, or for the film alone.
