Summer is here and that means fresh, delicious, local produce, and events that celebrate it! If you’re in Colorado, you won’t want to miss these farm to fork events.
Local food-focused summer events include:
Farow’s Sunday Supper on the Farm – Since opening its doors, Niwot gem Farow has dreamed of hosting farm dinners under Colorado summer sunsets, honoring the places that make their whole menu – where 90% of ingredients come from within 10 miles – possible. Join them this summer for their first Sunday Suppers series:
- What? Sunday Supper on the Farm – a series of five farm dinners across gorgeous Boulder County farms, held every third Sunday of the month from June through October, including a special 3-year Anniversary farm dinner in September. After an early evening tour of the farm, diners will enjoy a welcome cocktail, followed by a prix fixe four-course meal created by Farow Chef-Owner Patrick Balcom.
- When and Where? The series kicks off on June 18 at Longmont’s Speedwell Farm & Gardens and runs through September.
Mountain Roots’ Feast in the Field – Locals, visitors, farmers, ranchers, winemakers and other Mountain Roots’ supporters come together for a farm-to-table seated dinner to celebrate the summer harvest, share stories of local food and the land that sustains it, and raise funds for Mountain Roots’ local food and hunger relief efforts.
- What? A five-star dinner featuring ripe produce grown and wines produced nearby, live bluegrass music, an entertaining auctioneer, a live landscape painter, all in a huge tent under a Crested Butte mountain sunset. The event starts with a Maker’s Tasting cocktail hour with an eclectic assortment of craft distillers, vintners, and brewers from around the state. This year, Chef Dana Zobs of Crested Butte’s Personal Chefs is partnering with Chef/Rancher Abby Knowles of XIT Ranch and the Boulder Kitchen Collective to create a very special locally-sourced gourmet dinner, followed by fireside desserts and cocktails.
- When and Where? August 12th at Red Dog Ranch in Crested Butte, CO
OAK at Fourteenth’s Tomato Dinner – OAK at Fourteenth is the place to be during tomato season in Colorado. Since 2017, the award-winning Boulder restaurant has hosted an incredible Tomato Dinner honoring the beloved heirloom fruit.
- About the Event: Last year’s five-course Tomato Dinner included a savory Dashi Panna Cotta with Red Wagon Farm roasted tomato vinaigrette and dehydrated tomatoes turned into furikake; Corn Tortellini with heirloom tomato brodo, black cherry tomato concasse and tomato frico; and Chocolate Tomato Pudding with tomato caramel with the sweetest tomatoes on the vine.
