First Bite: Boulder County Restaurant Week

Not your average restaurant week

Challenge

First Bite: Boulder County Restaurant Week had been a beloved community event for more than a decade, but lacked deep, intrinsic connections to the community. A new owner was looking to make the event more impactful for restaurants, and more compelling for diners.

Results

ROOT’s PR strategy led to a variety of targeted broadcast, podcast, print and digital coverage, ultimately securing 31 pieces of coverage with more than 30 million readers/listeners.

First Bite saw a more than 30 percent jump in diners. Through partnerships with over 68 restaurants, nonprofits, local businesses and organizations, First Bite delivered over $542,000 economic impact to Boulder County in one year.

Solution

Through storytelling, ROOT positioned First Bite as not your average restaurant week, showcasing the elements that set it apart from a standard week of prix fixe menus, including a new nonprofit component and more inclusive pricing.

In Their Own Words:

“For the last two years, we have been working with ROOT Marketing & PR for the public relations for our annual First Bite Restaurant Week. Throughout our first year of re-designing our strategy, and then through a pandemic pivot of publishing a cookbook, the ROOT team was supportive of our ideas, and creative in how they strategically shared our message. Emily does an excellent job at following through with each media contact and managing our deliverables to ensure intimate and quality press. It is a joy to work alongside Emily, Kuvy and the ROOT team!”
