ROOT Marketing & PR has worked with restaurants since we first planted our roots in 2002. While we work with more brands and businesses today than in years past, we will always love our restaurant clients. Assisting in opening a restaurant, in particular, is one of our favorite projects. That’s why this month’s Services Spotlight is focused on the grand opening media event at Rye Society, a Jewish delicatessen and catering company that blends the best of traditional and contemporary food right in the heart of Denver’s RiNo neighborhood.
To create a significant amount of buzz, we teased the press with news releases months in advance, then hosted a media event one week before their grand opening. Local food writers, bloggers, and snap-happy Instagram influencers tasted food, took photographs, and learned how to make Rye Society’s secret family pickle recipe.
About a dozen media outlets featured Rye Society after the event, including 303 Magazine, 5280 Magazine, Eater Denver, and Westword. The resulting attention was so effective, there’s been a line out the door almost all day, every day since opening!
Check out the media event highlights through pictures below to see just how wonderful the event truly was.
Owner/operator Jerrod Rosen received immense support from his parents, Debbie and Steve Rosen, since the inception of Rye Society and throughout his restaurant career. They contributed their heritage to the wall-sized mural that maps out his family’s history in the Denver food industry – both from his mother’s side of the family, the Klausner’s, and his father’s.
Jerrod Rosen is a fifth generation Colorado-native. His great-grandfather Morris Klausner owned Golden Rule Dry Goods, which opened in 1922 just seven blocks away on the corner of 38th and Walnut. Additionally, his father’s parents ran Rosen’s Grocery store in Denver in the 1930’s, his great-grandmother operated Rosen’s Kosher Cafe in Denver for many years, and his maternal grandfather owned The Oasis Drive-in, also in Denver. Stop in to see what other establishments his family owned in the Denver area over the last 96 years.
Every great media event should offer an activity for guests, and Rye Society’s was no exception. Jerrod’s cousin, Justin Kutner, led a demonstration of their family’s 120 year old pickle recipe. Every sandwich served at Rye Society comes with a slice. Some of their sandwiches, like The Gentile, are enhanced by the pickle’s unique flavor. Customers are also able to purchase pickles by the jar to take home.
The Rye Society team made a batch of pickles in advance so they would have enough time to ferment for the event. Every guest went home with their own jar in a special gift bag. ROOT always make sure the media goes home with something to show our client’s appreciation.
ROOT Marketing & PR invited local food writers, bloggers, and social media influencers to Rye Society’s media event. Because of limited space in the deli, only a lucky 30 guests were able to attend.
Did you know? Jerrod’s Aunt Cindy makes all of Rye Society’s rugelach from scratch! She perfected the recipe over the last 25 years, just in time for the grand opening. If you go to Rye Society in the morning, you might catch the heavenly scent of chocolate and apricot-walnut rugelach baking.
Our founder, Kuvy Ax, and Rye Society’s Account Manager, Lauren Nischan, want to thank everyone who came to the grand opening media event! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out Rye Society on 3090 Larimer Street, open weekdays 7:30 am – 3:00 pm and every weekend 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.
