Kuvy Ax, Owner
Kuvy Ax is the founder and owner of ROOT, a seasoned and award-winning PR, marketing and social media agency dedicated to supporting good food – to those who grow it, make it, sell it and bring it to life.
Born in Colorado, Kuvy spent her formative years in England, then moved back to Colorado in 1990. After a decade working in radio, newspaper and TV as a writer, announcer, producer and promoter, an obsession with food and cooking prompted her to join Culinary School of the Rockies as Director of Avocational Programs in 2000.
In 2002, James Mazzio, a Food & Wine Magazine “Best New Chef,” hired Kuvy to handle his PR, which quickly led to the formation of ROOT Marketing & PR.
Through ROOT, Kuvy has handled public relations and marketing for almost every type of food or beverage-related company, program, and event, including restaurant openings, product launches, TV appearances, special events and festivals, national media tours, and deskside interviews in NYC.
In 2022, Kuvy was a judge for the New Hope Network Expo West NEXTY Awards and Expo East NEXTY Awards, and was also a speaker at both Expos. She was also a judge and trainer for New Hope’s Press Pitch event. In 2023, Kuvy will emcee the New Hope Network Expo West Pitch Slam on March 8.
Her nonprofit/volunteer work has included positions as President of Pollination Planet, Co-President of Slow Food Boulder County, as a member of the Board of Directors of the World Travel Association, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Les Dames D’Escoffier. She has also been a member of the CTO and Dept. of Agriculture’s Heritage & Agritourism Committee, and volunteered for the Flatirons Food Film Festival for many years.
In her spare time, Kuvy loves exploring new cities, cultures and foods, playing in the kitchen, and eating with friends.
